BA is very safe, but like any country anywhere in the world, you need to be cautious.
Simply being aware of your surroundings is important, and anything vital, such as purses and passports, should be carried with care.
The subway is very good, fast, and safe, though it stops operating around 10 pm at night. I found the streets of downtown BA to be perfectly okay till late at night, though as a precaution, stick to walking well lit or well populated streets as the smaller streets are not well kept and sometimes lack good lighting.
Being a lady, you may come across some degree of harassment such as wolf-whistling, but by and large Argentinian men are very respectful.

I would make Dan's words, mine. BA is usually pretty safe but caution is always important. Some areas in the outskirts are NO GO for tourists.
If you want so tips on how to travel safely, this is a good list: https://www.outofyourcomfortzone.net/travel-safety/ 7 months agoAnswered by Marry via WorldNomads.com
There are a lot of scams to look out for in BA (can google for details). Plus bars and restaurants, cafes willl always find ways to add extra costs to your bill and overcharge, so check that before you pay. eg extra food items or service charges
You can exchange money on the “blue” market. Find a guy yelling “cambio” on the streets, they will take you to a hidden office off the street. Here money is exchanged to a Pesos at a better rate that the banks are paying. This definitely felt a bit dodgy, I wouldn’t have done it alone. This was in ‘14 so not sure if it’s still happening.
Locals wear their backpack/bags on their front for safety/security, so we did the same.
My husband is from Brazil (I’m Australian) & it was fairly safe walking at night, like others said - in the main part and well lit areas. When my hubby walked by himself late at night he said some of the streets did feel unsafe, but we stayed in the rough part of town. 7 months agoAnswered by mj via WorldNomads.com
Very safe. Just use your common sense and you will be OK. It is quite noisy at night (sorting and removing rubbish from the streets every night). 7 months agoAnswered by Jo via WorldNomads.com
